AU Learning and Teaching Conference 2015

Last modified by Mary Jacob on 15/01/2016

News: The 2016 conference will take place on 7-8 July. Save the date!

We hope that shifting the conference to an earlier date in the summer will make it easier for staff to attend. Please watch for the call for papers, which will be publicised in January.

2015 Conference: Celebrating the diversity of teaching excellence

2015Conference.pngThank you to all who contributed to the third annual Aberystwyth Learning and Teaching Conference 2015, held on 8-10 September. Aberystwyth staff may also be interested in a new conference at Bangor University (see below for details).

Conference recordings will appear here shortly.

Please note that, as with any conference, there may be some changes to the details of the programme. For conference abstracts and further informatio, please download the Proceedings.

The conference theme is “Celebrating the diversity of teaching excellence”, with these main strands:

  • Assessment and feedback at the centre of what we do
  • Enriching learning with media and online learning objects
  • Engaging students in learning

We had an excellent response to our call for proposals and are pleased to offer a rich and varied programme. In particular, we are excited to announce several special sessions:

  • Keynote speaker: Alison James, Associate Dean, Learning and Teaching, University of the Arts London - Alison is an alumna of Aberystwyth University and a National Teaching Fellow. She specialises in interactive and creative approaches to learning and teaching. Read more here
  • Internal keynote speaker: Ayla Göl, International Politics - Ayla won the Outstanding Teaching Award in the Student-Led Teaching Awards for 2015, and will speak about using audio feedback. Read more here
  • Student-led session: Lauren Marks, incoming Student Union Education Officer - Lauren will talk about the student response to use of Turnitin and e-submission generally.
  • Teacher Round-table: Tim Woods, Director of the Institute of Education, Graduate & Professional Development, will chair a round-table discussion with teachers from Penglais School and Penweddig School to explore issues around the transition to university.
  • Good practice fair: featuring posters and live demonstrations from various Institutes, this session will allow you to speak informally with a range of presenters.

Remember to book soon, as spaces are limited!
