Changing the Learning Landscape

Changing the Learning Landscape is a partnership between Higher Education Academy (HEA), the Association for Learning Technology (ALT), JISC, the National Union of Students (NUS) and the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education (LFHE). 

The CLL offers a number of opportunities for staff to explore the use of technology in learning and professional development includinf workshops, online resources and funding opportunities.

Teaching Development Grants

The Higher Education Academy is offering bid-based development grant funding to stimulate evidence-based research and encourage innovations in learning and teaching that have the potential for sector-wide impact.

New Funding Available from the Higher Education Academy

HEA Wales is delighted to announce two new initiatives.

Enhancement Fund 2011

We are please to invite applications to the Learning and Teaching Enhancement Fund for Wales for up to £2,500 per proposal. This is an open call and proposals are welcome any time up to Friday 13 May 2011. Travel Fund 2011

This new initiative, launched by HEA Wales in the 2010/11 academic year, is aimed at encouraging the exchange and dissemination of good practice, at the discipline level, throughout the UK. It is specifically aimed at enabling staff and students at Welsh HEIs to engage with colleagues from other parts of the UK and to support their institution's priorities and developments in learning and teaching. AU staff member visits Melbourne University

Nigel Thomas,a member of staff in Information Services at Aberystwyth University, is visiting Melbourne University to work with Prof. Peter Jamieson on learning and teaching space design.

Funding for Digital Media Case Studies

Call for MEL SIG funded Digital Media Case Studies

Media Enhanced Learning Special Interest Group (MEL SIG) are looking to generate a pool of inspirational meterials that demonstrate how digital media is being used to enchance learning in UK higher education, including:

  • student assignments;
  • podcasts involving staff, students, experts and public;
  • media enhanced feedback;
  • small media interventions such as announcements, commentaries, revision notes, audio FAQs etc

Proposers are invited to submit a brief proposal for a £250 honoririum.  The closing date for submissions will be 31st January 2011

JISC HEAT4Wales project

In February, 2010, the E-learning Team applied for funding from JISC TechDIS under the Heat4Wales? project to evaluate two different methods of capturing audio and image digitally to see which is most effective in enhancing accessibility for students with different needs. We were successful, and the project will begin in May 2010.The technologies we are evaluating are the Pulse SmartPen and the HD Flip digital camcorder (see images below).
