There is a wide range of assessment options available that go beyond the standard model of a report plus an unseen exam.

This Aber Academy-sponsored session is designed as a ‘mini-conference’ in which staff share their good practice in assessment. There will be a series of demonstrations by teaching staff across a range of departments and institutes, with opportunities for small group and whole-group discussion.

This is a demonstration/discussion session.

This session will be held in the Academy E-learning Training Room. Please come in through Hugh Owen Library and go up to E level. Turn right as you come out of the stairwell and right again to proceed through the group study area. Enter the Academy at the far end of the group study area and follow the corridor round until you see E3 on your right.

This session will help participants to design their modules to meet elements of the AberLearn Blackboard Required Minimum Presence (RMP) and Enhanced Presence (EP).

Please contact the E-learning Group if you have any queries about this session.

Expected outcomes/objectives: What will participants achieve?

  • Evaluate a wide range of options for assessment and expand the options used in your own modules
  • Make an informed decision about how best to use assessment in your own teaching context
  • Identify colleagues in other departments who can provide peer advice on effective approaches to assessment
